What is Childhood Myopia?
Children with myopia are often described as being 'short-sighted' as distant objects appear blurry to them making it hard to do things such as read the whiteboard in classrooms. Myopia is caused by the eye being unable to focus light correctly and it is a progressive condition that changes over time. Myopia Focus Co-Founders
Myopia Focus was founded when Richard, a highly myopic parent with short-sighted children, met optometrist, consultant and myopia expert Jason Higginbotham. As Jason educated Richard, as to what myopia really was, and what his high myopia really meant for his future eye health - the desire to make other parents aware built. Together, we created Myopia Focus to bridge the gap between clinical knowledge and real-world parental concerns - providing clear, evidence-based information and helping families find experienced professionals they can trust. Our shared goal is simple: to raise awareness of myopia management and support better long-term eye health for children.
